JCMessiah Highlights: The Flashback Top 5 (1-28-2012)

Greetings!

Here are the top 5 posts favored by the community at "Jesus Christ The Messiah" (JCMessiah.org) during the week ending January 28th, 2012, starting with #5.  Let's flashback together, all the way to #1, and feel free to forward these highlights to your family, friends, and others who might like to receive them:

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please let my affliction serve a purpose for you.  May I be strong enough to serve as an example, an inspiration to others to seek you in the face of whatever suffering awaits them. Let ALL who obey you, those that come to lift up and and encourage ME; please let THEM find themselves lifted up and encouraged by MY perseverance.

Jesus said  we are to bring in the blind, the poor, and the crippled.  We are to let all hunger and thirst be answered everywhere.  The things that we do for the least of our brothers, we are doing for Him.  It is His love that we share.

Take a good look around you.  Many people are hurting.  Is there room at your table for the beggar outside?  There's a man on the road side.  Can you see that he's bleeding, or will you just walk away from an angel unaware?

Sources: Luke 10:25-37, Luke 13:14, and Hebrews 13:2.

PRAYER: Father, before I go to worship this morning, I want to praise you (as I do often) for getting me this far. Of course, I praise you for all that you have allowed in order to meet my basic needs. Yet, I also praise you that you have spared me, thus far, the level of suffering that most of us have only read about.  Lord, may I not squander this time of peace that you have given me. May I spend this time growing in you, serving you, becoming stronger than ever for the sake of facing more difficult days ahead. May I make myself more worthy than I was at first (when I started to believe in you).  May I temper myself to be capable like the Saints, the ones who did pay the ultimate price rather than deny you. As long as I walk and my heart beats, let this prayer sustain as though it were an unending melody of devotion to you.

Let there be NO "Amen" to this prayer. Let it ring out.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, God, the One who's power was responsible for healing the blind, lame, and the sick ... Please bring comfort and strength this day to all who are suffering in some way, as they look to you.  Help guide the capable believers, Lord, to those who are in need.  Let spirits of discernment open the eyes and hearts of your encouragers, so that they can see those who are discouraged (those who need to be lifted up).  Forgive us, Lord, for masking our inattentiveness with empty prayers.  May our next promise of prayer, made to a struggling brother or sister, be made genuine by our deeds.  Amen!
